Latest DSWAC News and Updates Dean McLellan, Field Director for the Walling association is looking to hire a laborer for the
summer season. Position would be ideal for a university or high school student looking to
gain some experience in the masonry field. Heavy lifting and long hours are involved.
Interested persons can contact Dean via email at hlmasonry@hsfx.ca. A car would be an
asset but is not necessary. Dean is located in the Mount Forest area but works all across
southern Ontario. ![]() The finished bridge at the DSWAC bridge building workshop at Prince Edward County Ontario Canada July 28- Aug 6th A great two days was spent learning to build dry stone walls during a crisp (but dry) weekend in November in scenic Beaver Valley Ontario Canada. Other news During the last half of October 2007, the DSWAC was invited to Glendale Gardens to help run some more dry stone walling workshops in British Columbia on Vancouver Island. These two day workshops were very well attended and produced some wonderful new stone walls. Professional dry stone wall Menno Braam Dry stone wall or terrace ( built predominately by one non-professional) John Bingham Group project ( wall or garden structure built by Canadian wallers of any status) Lynn Sinclair-Smith Also On Saturday and Sunday July 14/15th, the DSWAC hosted it's first ever "blackhouse" construction seminar. Over the two days students were given an opportunity to help with the building of a completely dry laid structure like the blackhouses of Scotland.
