On June 11 2005 the DSWAC ran the Brechin Dry Stone Wall Workshop on a blistering hot humid Saturday in Southern Ontario for 13 students, all very much dedicated to the idea of learning the basics of building walls in Canada without mortar. A modest 45 feet of quarried limestone 3 1/2 foot high wall was completed by 5pm and everyone agreed that it was well worth the effort. The wall stands as a testament to what can be done when people get together to make something beautiful and labour intensive,  rather than calling in the heavy equipment to put up something celebrating the God of expediency and consequently lacking any character.
