Discover the art of building stone structures without the use of mortar on, CANADIAN Thanksgiving Weekend, October 11-13 and join us as we celebrate our fifth

“ROCKTOBERFEST”

Location - 'Stonebridge', 10 acres of gardens, rolling hills and walls on 2973 Cornish Hollow Rd, R.R. #6 Cobourg, Ontario Canada K9A4J9. Free parking and admission.


Attractions

  • Beehive Hut Project - A dry stone hut with vaulted roof to be completed during the festival.
  • Dry Stone Competition - Teams of wallers will try their hand at building dry stone ‘trees’ on the festival site.
  • Student Workshop - A full day of hands-on walling instruction - Saturday Oct 11; fee 200 dollars. Please pre-register by emailing us at john@dswac.ca.
  • Children's supervised walling events - Inukshuks and arches.
  • Live music- Ancient Music Trio.
  • Stone balancing displays - built by wallers and volunteers during the festival. Trade Booths,Book Displays and Special Exhibit Tents of various participating waller's work.
  • Garden tour of existing dry stone work on the property, including Cornish Hollow Bridge.
  • Dry stone self-guided walking/driving tour of the Walls of Northumberland County.
  • Accommodation - Port Hope Hill and Dale Manor Cobourg Best Western Free camping available on site.
  • Evening Lectures and Films - at the Capital Theatre 700 pm on Saturday night (to be followed by Pub Night at the Beamish Inn) Guest Presenters - geologist and author Robert Thorson, professor at the University of Connecticut, (others to be confirmed, engineer Bob Moss, film maker Bill Stone, and John Shaw-Rimmington)
