![]() garden view with octagon barn On June 14-15 the DSWAC will run a two-day dry-laid walling workshop, to teach people the basics of using inexpensive random fieldstone to create a section of traditional free-standing garden wall. The spacious property where this outdoor workshop will be held is only ten minutes north of the 401 near Port Hope, an hour's drive east of Toronto, Ontario. ![]() View of the workshop site where at the far end the walled vegetable garden will be( May 2007) Students will learn how to use many tons of granite and limestone rocks found on or near the property to create an elegant 4 foot high walled flower/vegetable garden. ![]() example of a typical dry stone wall in Yorkshire No tools are required, just enthusiasm for working with stone and a simple desire to learn how to build with a natural material that doesn't rot , need painting or fall down after a few years.
